Domestic violence in Ukraine: a portrait of the abuser and the victim

The article reveals the socio-demographic profile of the perpetrator and the victim, key trends in judicial practice, the prevalence of various forms of violence with a particular focus on psychological pressure, as well as the role of children in such cases. The analysis reveals systemic problems and gaps between the recording of facts and actual court proceedings, and provides a basis for developing sound recommendations to improve the protection of victims and prevent domestic violence.
